Gender as a construct and gender dysphoria as a condition in need of multidisciplinary intervention have developed as swiftly as their visibility in society, making it mandatory to promote the literacy and education of all healthcare professionals in this area. This article aims to review information based on scientific evidence on people with gender dysphoria and its clinical approach, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory practice of healthcare.

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: is there a relationship between Risser staging and the proximal humerus ossification system?

Purpose: To evaluate whether there is a mismatch between Risser staging and the proximal humerus ossification system (PHOS); and to analyze the correlation in the skeletal maturity stages between the two humeral epiphyses.

Methods: Data from patients aged 10 to 18 years with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) seen between 2018 to 2021 were analyzed. In an anteroposterior (AP) spine radiograph the ossification process was evaluated using the Risser classification method and bilateral PHOS (if both humeral epiphyses were visualized).

Background: Reflexive laboratory testing workflows can improve the assessment of patients receiving pain medications chronically, but complex workflows requiring pathologist input and interpretation may not be well-supported by traditional laboratory information systems. In this work, we describe the development of a web application that improves the efficiency of pathologists and laboratory staff in delivering actionable toxicology results.

Method: Before designing the application, we set out to understand the entire workflow including the laboratory workflow and pathologist review.

Listening to your mass spectrometer: An open-source toolkit to visualize mass spectrometer data.

Introduction: We have developed a set of tools built with open-source software that includes both a database and a visualization component to collect LC-MS/MS data and monitor quality control parameters.

Description Of Tool: To display LC-MS/MS data we built a parsing tool using Python and standard libraries to parse the XML files after each clinical run. The tool parses the necessary information to store a database comprised of three distinct tables.
