Perceived Stress and Health Outcomes Among Latinx and Non-Latinx White Adult People With HIV in East Harlem, New York: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Stress and HIV disproportionately affect Latinx adults in the United States, contributing to numerous health inequities. Among people living with HIV (PLWH), increased stress is associated with decreased medication adherence, effectiveness, and higher rates of immunosuppression and comorbidities. Our study ( N = 126) examined the relationship between perceived stress and HIV-related health among Latinx ( n = 83) and non-Latinx White ( n = 43) PLWH.

Scan-Negative Cauda Equina Syndrome: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Objective: To describe clinical features relevant to diagnosis, mechanism, and etiology in patients with "scan-negative" cauda equina syndrome (CES).

Methods: We carried out a prospective study of consecutive patients presenting with the clinical features of CES to a regional neurosurgery center comprising semi-structured interview and questionnaires investigating presenting symptoms, neurologic examination, psychiatric and functional disorder comorbidity, bladder/bowel/sexual function, distress, and disability.

Results: A total of 198 patients presented consecutively over 28 months.

The neurocognitive effects of a past cannabis use disorder in a diverse sample of people living with HIV.

People living with HIV (PLWH) report higher rates of cannabis use than the general population, a trend likely to continue in light of recent policy changes and the reported therapeutic benefits of cannabis for PLWH. Therefore, it is important to better understand cannabis-associated effects on neurocognition, especially as PLWH are at heightened risk for neurocognitive impairment. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of a past cannabis use disorder on current neurocognition in a diverse sample of PLWH.

Assessing Ganglion Cell Layer Topography in Human Albinism Using Optical Coherence Tomography.

Purpose: To test whether ganglion cell layer (GCL) and inner plexiform layer (IPL) topography is altered in albinism.

Methods: Optical coherence tomography scans were analyzed in 30 participants with albinism and 25 control participants. Horizontal and vertical line scans were acquired at the fovea, then strip registered and averaged.

Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: Multiparametric MR imaging-directed intraoperative frozen-section analysis to reduce the rate of positive surgical margins.

Purpose: To investigate whether use of multiparametric magnetic resonance (MR) imaging-directed intraoperative frozen-section (IFS) analysis during nerve-sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy reduces the rate of positive surgical margins.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective analysis of prospectively acquired data was approved by an institutional ethics committee, and the requirement for informed consent was waived. Data were reviewed for 134 patients who underwent preoperative multiparametric MR imaging (T2 weighted, diffusion weighted, and dynamic contrast-material enhanced) and nerve-sparing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, during which IFS analysis was used, and secondary resections were performed when IFS results were positive for cancer.

It is general experience, however, that anterior communicating artery (AcoA) aneurysms are frequent and mostly rupture at <7 mm. The aim of the study was to assess whether AcoA aneurysms behave differently from other AC aneurysms.

Background: Intake of aspirin is associated with reduction in risk of colorectal adenoma and carcinoma. Some plants contain salicylates, and individuals not taking aspirin may have measurable salicylate levels. However, the association between serum salicylate level and recurrence of adenoma in nonusers of aspirin has not been studied.

Treatment of recalcitrant verruca vulgaris with Candida antigen in patient with human immunodeficiency virus.

Verruca vulgaris is often difficult to treat in individuals with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. We present a case of an HIV positive 44-year-old male with a 3-year history of multiple recalcitrant verruca vulgaris involving his hands and face. He did not respond to cryotherapy, urea 40% cream, imiquimod 5% cream, paring, intralesional bleomycin, salicylic acid 6% gel, and electrodesiccation and curettage.
