Tearing of the subscapularis tendon is a common shoulder injury that typically requires arthroscopic repair. The suture-passing device is a standard tool for repairing the subscapularis tendon. However, it poses the risk of device breakage and may cause additional damage to the tendon.

Background: Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) are often ill-equipped for shared decision-making. This study investigated the effects of a patient empowerment care model on patient-reported health outcomes and treatment decision-making in patients with AF.
Methods: This randomized controlled trial prospectively randomized patients with AF to receive standard care (n=194) or a 13-week nurse-led multicomponent behavioral activation intervention (n=198).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to quantify the intra- and interfraction motion of the target volume and organs at risk (OARs) during adaptive radiotherapy (ART) for uterine cervical cancer (UCC) using MR-Linac and to identify appropriate UCC target volume margins for adapt-to-shape (ATS) and adapt-to-position (ATP) workflows. Then, the dosimetric differences caused by motion were analyzed.
Methods: Thirty-two UCC patients were included.

Two-dimensional (2D) magnetic materials with tunable magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) are of great scientific interest and hold immense promise for ultracompact spintronic devices with lower energy consumption and higher storage density. Here, we demonstrate a practical approach for manipulating MAE in layered MnTe through the alkali metal adsorption and ferroelectric (FE) polarization effect. Our results reveal colossal MAE values of up to -12.

This study aimed to assess the feasibility and safety of PFA and its combination with radiofrequency ablation for treating paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.

Thick-slice CT remains prevalent in practice due to cost considerations, yet its coarse spatial resolution may hinder accurate diagnoses. Our multicenter study develops a deep learning synthetic model with Convolutional-Transformer hybrid encoder-decoder architecture for generating thin-slice CT from thick-slice CT on a single center (1576 participants) and access the synthetic CT on three cross-regional centers (1228 participants).

The lack of robust disease models for VMs impedes drug discovery. Here, we devise a robust protocol for the generation of human induced VECs (iVECs) through manipulation of cell-cycle dynamics via the retinoic signaling pathway.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccurate prediction of RNA three-dimensional (3D) structures remains an unsolved challenge. Determining RNA 3D structures is crucial for understanding their functions and informing RNA-targeting drug development and synthetic biology design. The structural flexibility of RNA, which leads to the scarcity of experimentally determined data, complicates computational prediction efforts.

Genomic profiling often fails to predict therapeutic outcomes in cancer. This failure is, in part, due to a myriad of genetic alterations and the plasticity of cancer signaling networks. Functional profiling, which ascertains signaling dynamics, is an alternative method to anticipate drug responses.

Methods: We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized trial in China, involving patients with symptomatic nonacute subdural hematoma with mass effect. Patients were assigned to undergo burr-hole drainage or receive nonsurgical treatment at the surgeon's discretion, and patients in each group were then randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to undergo middle meningeal artery embolization with liquid embolic material or to receive usual care.
Background And Objectives: The incidence of stroke among young adults was rising globally, but the death burden of stroke in young adults in China is lacking. We aimed to examine the temporal trends in mortality and years of life lost (YLLs) caused by stroke among young adults from 2005 to 2020 across China.
Methods: Based on the data from the National Mortality Surveillance System in China, we estimated the number and age-standardized rate of mortality and YLLs due to stroke and its subtypes among young adults aged 15-49 years during 2005-2020, for both China and its 31 mainland provinces.
Hypoxia, a common occurrence within solid tumors, can stimulate the dissemination of deceptive tumor exosomes, which function as communicative bridges and orchestrate the recruitment of various supportive cell types for enhanced tumor adaptability in a tumor immune microenvironment. Current nanotechnology provides us intelligent strategies to combat the hypoxic tumor microenvironment. However, once exposed to external stimuli, such as chemotherapy, tumor cells simultaneously release malignant signals to develop tumor migration and immunosuppression, posing challenges to clinical practice.

To gain comprehensive insights into the pivotal mechanisms and establish structure-performance relationships, especially concerning the roles of dopants, remains a pressing need. Herein, we employ computational simulations to unravel the catalytic function of heteroatoms in the acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER), focusing on a physical model of high-electronegative F and N co-doped carbon matrix.

We describe a class of aptamer-based RNA switches or aptaswitches that recognize target nucleic acid molecules and initiate folding of a reporter aptamer. Aptaswitches can detect virtually any sequence and provide an intense fluorescent readout without intervening enzymes, generating signals in as little as 5 minutes and enabling detection by eye with minimal equipment.

Methods: Between August 1, 2019, and February 28, 2022, this multicenter stepped wedge cluster randomized trial included maternity/diagnostic units from 10 regions in Asia. The trial started with a period where all recruiting centers provided routine antenatal care without study-related intervention.
This research investigates the modeling of the pharmaceutical roller compaction process, focusing on the application of the Johanson model and the impact of varying roll speeds from 1 to 15 RPM on predictive accuracy of ribbon solid fraction. The classical Johanson's model was integrated with a dwell time parameter leading to an expression of a floating correction factor as a function of roll speed. Through systematic analysis of the effect of different roll speeds on the solid fraction of ribbons composed of microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, and their blends, corrective adjustment to the Johanson model was found to depend on both roll speed and formulation composition.
