UB-612 pan-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine targets the monomeric Spike S1-receptor binding domain (RBD) subunit protein along with five sequence-conserved T cell epitopes found on Spike S2 and non-Spike M and N proteins. UB-612 vaccination safely induces potent, broad, and long-lasting immunity against SARS-CoV-2. A phase-2 trial-extended observational study during the Omicron BA.

Article Synopsis
  • CAR-T therapy is effective for B-cell lymphoma but is costly and has safety concerns due to its complicated genetic modification process.
  • A new approach, antibody-cell conjugation (ACC), allows for attaching cancer-targeting antibodies to immune cells without genetic changes, resulting in a treatment called ACE1831, which uses rituximab-conjugated γδ2 T cells.
  • ACE1831 showed enhanced cancer-killing ability in lab studies and improved survival in mice with B-cell lymphoma, showing promise as an accessible treatment option without harmful side effects.

Background: The vascular endothelium maintains tissue-fluid homeostasis by controlling the passage of large molecules and fluid between the blood and interstitial space. The interaction of catenins and the actin cytoskeleton with VE-cadherin (vascular endothelial cadherin) is the primary mechanism for stabilizing AJs (adherens junctions), thereby preventing lung vascular barrier disruption. Members of the Rho (Ras homology) family of GTPases and conventional GEFs (guanine exchange factors) of these GTPases have been demonstrated to play important roles in regulating endothelial permeability.

Background: Muscle wasting may explain the paradoxical mortality of patients with high estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFRs) derived from equation methods. However, empirical evidence and solutions remain insufficient.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we compared the performance of equation methods for predicting all-cause mortality; we used 24-h creatinine clearance (24-h CrCl), equation-based eGFRs, and a new eGFR estimating equation weighting for population 24-h urine creatinine excretion rate (U-CER).

: For hepatocellular carcinoma ("HCC"), the current standard of treatment is hepatic artery embolization, generally through trans-catheter arterial chemoembolization ("TACE"). There are two types: traditional ("conventional" or "cTACE") and microsphere ("DC bead TACE"). Unfortunately, the literature comparing the relative effectiveness of cTACE versus DC bead TACE is inconclusive, partially due to the complexity of HCC and its response to treatment.

Purpose To demonstrate that magnetic resonance (MR) imaging-monitored transcranial focused ultrasound can enhance the delivery of the antiangiogenic monoclonal antibody bevacizumab into the central nervous system (CNS) for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) treatment. Materials and Methods All animal experiments were approved by the animal committee and adhered to experimental animal care guidelines. Transcranial focused ultrasound exposure in the presence of microbubbles was used to open the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to enhance bevacizumab penetration into the CNS in healthy and glioma-bearing mice.
