Previous research investigating Internet gaming disorder (IGD) in China involved mainly youth samples despite the large population of adult gamers. Drawing on the self-regulatory executive function model, this study aimed to demonstrate the psychometric robustness of negative and positive gaming-specific metacognitions assessed by the short-form Metacognitions about Online Gaming Scale (MOGS; Study 1). Then, Study 2 aimed to explore bidirectional associations between these two factors of the MOGS and IGD among a broad age spectrum of Chinese adult gamers.

Pannexin 1 (PANX1) forms cell-surface channels capable of releasing signaling metabolites for diverse patho-physiological processes. While inhibiting dysregulated PANX1 has been proposed as a therapeutic strategy for many pathological conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), low efficacy, or poor specificity of classical PANX1 inhibitors introduces uncertainty for their applications in basic and translational research. Here, hit-to-lead optimization is performed and a naphthyridone, compound 12, is identified as a new PANX1 inhibitor with an IC of 0.

Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) is a prevalent type of hospital-acquired infection, affecting approximately 15% to 25% of patients with urinary catheters. Long-term use of the catheter can lead to colonization of microorganisms and biofilm formation, and may develop into bacterial CAUTI. However, the frequent replacement of catheters in clinical settings can result in tissue damage, inflammation, ulceration, and additional complications, causing discomfort and pain for patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Immunochemotherapy is currently the primary treatment for newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (ndDLBCL), but it's ineffective for some patients, prompting research into better prognostic methods.
  • By analyzing transcriptomic data from a large group of patients, researchers identified seven distinct clusters of ndDLBCL, with one specific cluster (A7) linked to poorer outcomes due to characteristics like low immune cell presence and high MYC expression.
  • The study also explores how certain drugs, like lenalidomide, may improve treatment for the high-risk A7 cluster by enhancing T-cell movement into tumors and the expression of key tumor markers, while identifying TCF4 as a crucial factor in MYC biology for this group.
