Improved Computed Tomography Accuracy with a 1-mm versus 2- or 3-mm Slice Thickness for the Detection of Medial Coronoid Disease in Dogs.

Objective:  Computed tomography (CT) is used complementarily to radiography for the evaluation of medial coronoid disease (MCD). We hypothesized that a slice thickness > 2 mm would significantly affect the image quality and detection of fragmentation of the medial coronoid process. This study aimed to assess CT features indicating direct and indirect evidence of MCD in 168 CT studies with slice thicknesses of 1-, 2- and 3 mm.

Routine Neurological Assessments by Nurses in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Background: Brain injury with changes in clinical neurological signs and symptoms can develop while children are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. Critical care nurses routinely screen for neurological decline by using serial bedside neurological assessments. However, assessment components, frequency, and communication thresholds are not standardized.

Inter-Rater Reliability Between Critical Care Nurses Performing a Pediatric Modification to the Glasgow Coma Scale.

Objectives: Estimate the inter-rater reliability of critical care nurses performing a pediatric modification of the Glasgow Coma Scale in a contemporary PICU.

Design: Prospective observation study.

Setting: Large academic PICU.

Leuprolide acetate for inducing ovulation in women undergoing ovarian stimulation.

Objective: To determine whether leuprolide acetate (LA), given subcutaneously at the time of follicular maturity in stimulated cycles, can result in ovulation and in vivo fertilization.

Study Design: Sixty-seven women underwent 91 cycles of ovarian stimulation (OS) and received a single subcutaneous injection of 1 mg of LA when follicular maturity was reached. Only clomiphene citrate (CC) was used for 15 cycles, CC/FSH for 66 cycles and human menopausal gonadotropin only for 10 cycles.

Failure to comply with hormone replacement may jeopardize pregnancies in functionally agonadal women: a series report.

In conclusion, these three functionally agonadal patients illustrate that discontinuing hormone support may have disastrous effects upon early pregnancy. Patients should be educated as to the importance of utilizing medications correctly. In cases where compliance is an issue, embryo transfer should be delayed.
