Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the role of serum Hsp70, a heat shock protein, in patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and compares its levels to those of healthy individuals, finding significantly higher levels in SCLC patients.
  • - Results show that serum Hsp70 concentration is much higher in advanced stage IV SCLC compared to earlier stages, and it correlates with other serum biomarkers (LDH and NSE).
  • - High serum Hsp70 levels are linked to poorer survival outcomes, suggesting its potential as a valuable diagnostic and prognostic marker for SCLC.

We present the case of a 68-year-old male patient presenting with progressive fatigability and shortness of breath, abnormal heart beats in the last 4 years, aggravated in the last year.
