We estimated the prevalence of unmet needs of healthcare services (UNHS) and its associated factors among a cohort of older Ghanaian adults. World Health Organization (WHO) Study on Global AGEing and Adult Health for Ghana was used with a total of 4735 participants. Logistics regression analysis was performed using Stata 16 to assess associated factors.

Emotional intelligence in medical students at the University of Ghana Medical School, Accra, Ghana.

Unlabelled: Emotional Intelligence is a form of interpersonal intelligence. There's evidence that high emotional intelligence (EQ) of a medical student is associated with better coping with the tedious medical training. We evaluated EQ in medical students in their clinical years.

Use of skin-lightening products among selected urban communities in Accra, Ghana.

Background: The practice of skin lightening has been reported from North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. In literature, some prevalence rates exceed 50%, and both sexes are involved. Common agents used include hydroquinone, mercury, corticosteroids, and caustic agents.

Impaired IgA response to Giardia heat shock antigen in children with persistent diarrhoea and giardiasis.

The serum antibody response in Gambian children with persistent diarrhoea and giardiasis has been studied. Total serum IgG, IgA, and IgM concentrations were increased in these patients as compared with controls from the same area. Determination of the concentrations of Giardia specific antibodies by enzyme linked immuno adsorbent assay (ELISA), however, revealed that only IgM was raised while those of IgA and IgG were similar to the controls.

Prevalence and treatment of giardiasis in chronic diarrhoea and malnutrition.

To determine the prevalence of giardiasis in Gambian children with chronic diarrhoea and to assess their response to treatment, 31 children with chronic diarrhoea and malnutrition were investigated for giardiasis using a combination of serology (specific antigiardia IgM antibody) and microscopy of faeces and jejunal biopsy specimens. Fourteen of 31 children with chronic diarrhoea had giardiasis compared with only four of 33 healthy age and sex matched control children. Four of 15 malnourished children without diarrhoea were giardia positive.
