Antiretroviral therapy (ART) improves the quality of life for those living with the human immunodeficiency virus type one (HIV-1). However, poor compliance reduces ART effectiveness and leads to immune compromise, viral mutations, and disease co-morbidities. Here we develop a drug formulation in which a lipid-based nanoparticle (LBNP) carrying rilpivirine (RPV) is decorated with the C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5) targeting peptide.

This study aims to investigate the variations in guanidino (Guan), amine and amide chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) contrasts in ischemic stroke using permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO) and transient MCAO (tMCAO) models at high (9.4T) and clinical (3T) MRI fields. CEST contrasts were extracted using the Polynomial and Lorentzian Line-shape Fitting (PLOF) method.

Introduction: Heterotopic ossification (HO) occurs following orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injuries, brain trauma and limb amputations. Once symptomatic, HO causes pain, limited mobility and decreased quality of life. Current treatments are limited and have significant complications with high recurrence rates, underscoring the need for improved therapeutic interventions.

Article Synopsis
  • * A previous study showed that transplanting canine glial-restricted progenitors (cGRPs) into certain genetically altered mice led to some myelination, but results varied based on where the cells were injected.
  • * The current research aimed to enhance the effectiveness of cGRP transplantation by using a multisite injection method, resulting in increased myelination, higher expression of myelin proteins, and improved survival rates in the treated mice.
