Purpose: To determine whether spectral detector CT (SDCT) with a plain non-enhanced monochromatic CT, a water-weighted image after iodine removal, an iodine map, and Mono energetic images changes the diagnosis and classification of intracranial hemorrhage based on single energy CT after endovascular treatment (EVT) for ischemic stroke.

Methods: Two readers evaluated single energy and SD CT data collected from 63 patients within one week after EVT. They diagnosed ICH or contrast staining, and graded ICH according to the Heidelberg and Safe Implementation of Thrombolysis in Stroke-Monitoring Study (SITS-MOST) classification.

Background: Hyperactive thyroid nodules (HTN) are usually treated with radioactive iodine (RAI). However, as RAI is associated with a 30-60% long-term risk of permanent hypothyroidism, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) may be a good alternative. Primary aim of this study was to assess the percentage of patients achieving euthyroidism after RFA.

Article Synopsis
  • Obesity and metabolic syndrome are linked to an increased risk of hepatocellular adenomas (HCA), and this study investigates whether weight loss from bariatric surgery can help reduce HCA in severely obese patients.
  • Data was collected from a patient database, focusing on individuals who had undergone bariatric surgery and had liver benign neoplasms, demonstrating that 3 women with HCA experienced significant regression of the tumors after surgery and weight loss.
  • The findings suggest that weight loss from bariatric surgery can lead to significant improvements in HCA, highlighting the influence of obesity on the development of these liver tumors.
