Benthic oxygen uptake in coastal mussel farms is enhanced by organic bio-deposition and can trigger hypoxic or anoxic conditions. Despite this, previous studies have determined benthic oxygen uptake under simulated conditions using traditional flux methods, overlooking the dynamic nature of coastal regions that can affect oxygen exchanges with processes occurring on different time scales. In this study, tidal variability of benthic oxygen fluxes in a mussel farm was examined using the aquatic eddy covariance (AEC) technique.

The extent to which dogs understand human referential communication is among the most studied questions in canine cognition research. While it is widely accepted that dogs follow (some) human referential signals, the way they understand them remains controversial. Here, we applied mobile eye tracking with dogs to investigate during real-world interactions how ostensive pointing and gaze cues direct dogs' visual attention and bias their subsequent choices in an object-choice task.

Background: The proximity of transverse sinus stenosis (TSS) to inner ear structures and the temporal bone makes it a substantial cause of pulsatile tinnitus (PT). Treatment typically involves venous sinus stenting. This study investigates the hemodynamic stressors in TSS patients with PT along the pulse-transmitting temporal bone area and evaluates its treatment effects.

Daprodustat, a novel oral hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor is approved in the United States for the treatment of anemia due to chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adults receiving dialysis for at least 4 months. Pharmacodynamic dose-hemoglobin (Dose-Hgb) models were developed as daprodustat progressed through development. To support global phase III development, a dose-titration algorithm, guided by simulations from the initial Dose-Hgb model based on phase II clinical data, was implemented.
