The unicuspid unicommisural aortic valve is an uncommon congenital malformation that often manifests as stenosis with or without regurgitation in adults in their third to fifth decades of life. This report characterizes the morphological features of surgically excised unicuspid valves in adults with clinical correlation. Among the surgically excised aortic valves over a period of 10 years, the clinical data and morphological features of unicuspid aortic valves were analyzed.

Objectives: The development and progression of chronic heart failure (CHF), hypertrophy, and remodeling strongly correlate with myocardial inflammation and oxidative stress. S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), available as a dietary supplement, exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Previous reports show that by regulating angiogenesis and fibrosis, S-adenosyl-L-methionine improves ventricular remodeling.

On account of necro-inflammatory changes in the media of the distal descending thoracic aorta coupled with the shear stress of accelerated hypertension, there was a medial detachment, which migrated and lay between the intima and media of the abdominal aorta. This displacement was visualized on gross and histopathological examination as a 'laminated' appearance of coils of discontinuous inflamed tunica media, reminiscent of a hydatid cyst, which has been designated as medio-medial intussusceptions.

Aims: This study aimed to analyze the clinical and pathological features of aortic resections performed for aortopathy.
