Clinical, genetic, radiological characteristics and management of mediastinal paragangliomas: a literature review and case series.

Paragangliomas (PGLs) are neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) that arise from neural crest derived cells. Up to 40% of cases occur due to the presence of a pathogenic germline variant (PGV) in a known gene. Mediastinal PGLs are rare but are being diagnosed with increasing frequency.

The Effect of Sequentially Increased Polyethylene Constraint on Impingement in Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty: A Biomechanical Investigation.

Background: The constraint of the polyethylene liner in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) can affect glenohumeral joint stability. However, its influence on glenohumeral range of motion (ROM) remains unclear. Therefore, it was the objective of this study to determine the effect of sequentially increasing polyethylene liner constraint on impingement-free ROM following rTSA.

Synthesis and Characterization of Solvated and Base-Free Cerium(III) Mixed-Sandwich Complexes.

A series of solvated complexes: [(CH)Ln(CMeR)(DME)] Ln = La, R = -Me; () Ln = Ce, R = -Me, -SiMe, -H; (, , ), [(dbCOT)Ln(CMe)(DME)] (), (dbCOT = dibenzocyclooctadienide; Ln = Ce, La), [(dbCOT)Ce(CMeH)(DME)] () and [(hdcCOT)Ce(CMe)(DME)] () (hdcCOT = hexahydrodicyclopentacyclooctatetraenide) and base-free mixed-sandwich complexes [(CH)Ce(CMe)] (), [(CH)Ce(CMeH) () and [(hdcCOT)Ce(CMe)] () of the early lanthanide metals cerium and lanthanum comprising variable cyclopentadienide (Cp) and cyclooctatetraenide (COT) ligands is described. To evaluate the effect of cyclopentadienide and cyclooctatetraenide ligands on the characteristics of these complexes, their solid-state structural, electrochemical, and photophysical properties were studied and accompanied by theoretical calculations. To further evaluate the effect of ligands on the topology of the complexes and the reducing properties of the complexes, syntheses of several base-free congeners were pursued, which led to isolation of the first base-free monomeric and polymeric Ce(III) mixed-sandwich compounds.

Rehabilitation needs of people with brain tumours in Ireland ("BRAIN-RESTORE"): a survey of healthcare professionals' views.

Purpose: Access to rehabilitation after brain tumour can be limited, resulting in unmet needs. We examined healthcare professionals' perceptions of rehabilitation need and current rehabilitation services for people with brain tumours in Ireland.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey of community and hospital-based healthcare professionals caring for people with brain tumours was conducted in August 2023.

Asymptomatic Empty Sella: A Literature Review and Suggestions for Evaluation in Clinical Practice.

Empty sella (ES) is a radiographic finding defined by the presence of cerebrospinal fluid in the sella turcica, with associated compression of the pituitary gland. Empty sella syndrome (ESS) is the combination of this radiographic finding with endocrine, ophthalmological, and/or neurological symptoms. The focus of this literature review is to synthesize information about asymptomatic or incidental ES specifically, meaning the radiologic finding of an empty sella without symptoms.
