Background: Five percent to 10% of chronic pancreatitis (CP) cases are complicated by portal venous occlusion leading to extrahepatic generalized portal hypertension (GPH). Pancreatic head resections (PHR) are regarded risky or contraindicated in patients with extrahepatic GPH.
