Researchers are rapidly developing and deploying highly portable MRI technology to conduct field-based research. The new technology will widen access to include new investigators in remote and unconventional settings and will facilitate greater inclusion of rural, economically disadvantaged, and historically underrepresented populations. To address the ethical, legal, and societal issues raised by highly accessible and portable MRI, an interdisciplinary Working Group (WG) engaged in a multi-year structured process of analysis and consensus building, informed by empirical research on the perspectives of experts and the general public.

Background: Development of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is associated with increased morbidity, mortality, hospital length of stay, and overall health care costs.

Objectives: The purpose of this project was to evaluate a clinical practice change-the addition of high-dose statin therapy to standard renal protection measures-in adults undergoing acute cardiac catheterization procedures and assessing its effect on CI-AKI.

Method: The evaluation was a pretest/posttest descriptive design.

People with Parkinson's disease who have elevated muscle activity during rapid eye movement sleep (REM sleep without atonia) typically have a worse motor and cognitive impairment compared with those with normal muscle atonia during rapid eye movement sleep. This study used tract-based spatial statistics to compare diffusion MRI measures of fractional anisotropy, radial, mean and axial diffusivity (measures of axonal microstructure based on the directionality of water diffusion) in white matter tracts between people with Parkinson's disease with and without rapid eye movement sleep without atonia and controls and their relationship to measures of motor and cognitive function. Thirty-eight individuals with mild-to-moderate Parkinson's disease and 21 matched control subjects underwent ultra-high field MRI (7 T), quantitative motor assessments of gait and bradykinesia and neuropsychological testing.

Purpose: The purpose of this clinical nurse specialist-led initiative was to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infection rates to less than 1 infection per 1000 catheter days, to reduce catheter device utilization, and to improve staff adherence to documentation requirements on a traumatic brain injury rehabilitation unit.

Description Of The Project: Catheter-associated urinary tract infections are costly hospital-acquired infections increasing length of stay and morbidity for patients. Following an education intervention, a best practice initiative was implemented.
