Extrinsic and intrinsic risk factors for injuries among the elderly in Greece were investigated in a hospital based case-control study. Cases were 200 elderly persons, residents of the Greater Athens area, who contacted the "Laiko" University Hospital for accident-related injuries, during a 10-month period, whereas the control series comprised 385 elderly who, during the same period, contacted the same hospital for non-injury related medical reasons. Data were analyzed by modeling through multiple logistic regression.
