Introduction: This study focuses on the nutrition of young people in schools. The Saarland state government mandates the implementation of the "quality standards for school meals", developed by the Germany Society of Nutrition (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Ernährung, DGE) in schools offering school meals. This research evaluates the state of implementation.

Bone geometry and strength adaptations to physical constraints inherent in different sports: comparison between elite female soccer players and swimmers.

Sports training characterized by impacts or weight-bearing activity is well known to induce osteogenic effects on the skeleton. Less is known about the potential effects on bone strength and geometry, especially in female adolescent athletes. The aim of this study was to investigate hip geometry in adolescent soccer players and swimmers compared to normal values that stemmed from a control group.

Comparison of a propofol target-controlled infusion and inhalational sevoflurane for fibreoptic intubation under spontaneous ventilation.

Background: A propofol target-controlled infusion (TCI) is often proposed for the management of difficult airway intubation and fibreoptic intubation under anaesthesia and spontaneous ventilation. No data are available about sevoflurane. The aim of the present study was to compare propofol and sevoflurane as hypnotics during fibreoptic intubation under spontaneous ventilation.
