Voice quality after open partial horizontal laryngectomy vs. total laryngectomy with voice prosthesis: a comparative study.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare voice outcomes in open partial horizontal laryngectomy vs. total laryngectomy (TL) with voice prosthesis.

Methods: In this retrospective monocentric study patients undergoing OPHL or TL with voice prosthesis were enrolled during the usual oncological follow-up consultations at the Otolaryngology and Audiology Unit of a University Hospital in the period between July 2022 and June 2023.

Surgical and radiological perspectives for the spinal accessory nerve passing through a fenestrated internal jugular vein: case series and literature review.

The preservation of the spinal accessory nerve represents a key goal in head and neck oncologic surgery during selective neck dissection. This study aims to illustrate the anatomical variants of the XI cranial nerve, delving into the relationship between the spinal nerve and the internal jugular vein, as well as the surgical implications. Two cases of patients who underwent oncologic surgery with neck dissection are described.

Guided Superficial Enhanced Fluid Fat Injection (SEFFI) Procedures for Facial Rejuvenation: An Italian Multicenter Retrospective Case Report.

Background: The aging process starts in the center of the face, in the periocular region and around the mouth, with a combination of volume loss, tissue descent, deepened wrinkles, and the loss of skin structure and quality. Recently, several studies have demonstrated the efficacy of therapies based on autologous adipose tissue grafting, which leverages the properties of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) to accelerate the regenerative processes of the skin. This study aims to verify the ability of guided superficial enhanced fluid fat injection (SEFFI) in the facial area to correct volume loss and skin aging, proving that this standardized procedure has a very low rate of complications.

[Guidelines for the safe outpatient practice of aesthetic surgery].

This paper presents guidelines for the safe outpatient practice of aesthetic surgery. These guidelines have been prepared by the Lombard Association of Plastic Surgery for Outpatients (ALChiPlA), an association confined to board certified plastic surgeons and holders of official authorizations issued by the Lombard ASL to perform outpatient surgery. The cornerstone of these guidelines is the health and safety of patients, who are turning to this type of surgery in ever increasing numbers.

Contraction and growth of deep burn wounds covered by non-meshed and meshed split thickness skin grafts in humans.

A group of 18 burned patients was excised between days 2 and 5 postburn days, while 20 patients were operated later, between days 25 and 35 postburn. After early excision the wounds covered with meshed grafts contracted to a mean wound size of 56 per cent while the wounds covered with non-meshed grafts contracted to a mean wound size of 64 per cent. After late excision wounds covered with meshed grafts contracted to a mean wound size of 40.
