Isolation and molecular structure of hexacyanoruthenate(III).

The [Ru(CN)(6)](3-) ion is synthesized in aqueous solution and isolated as [Ph(4)As](3)[Ru(CN)(6)].2H(2)O (1). Compound 1 crystallizes as orange needles in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n with cell parameters a = 11.

Follow-up study of patients with clinically suspected deep venous thrombosis and a normal venogram.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical course in patients with clinically suspected deep venous thrombosis (DVT) of the leg and a normal venogram.

Design: Prospective study over 15 months with a follow-up of 4-12 (median 8.6) months after a normal venogram.

Computerized surveillance in clinical microbiology with time series analysis.

An automatic surveillance system to detect changes in the incidences of microorganisms diagnosed in the department of clinical microbiology has been developed. The program is incorporated into the laboratory computer system and gives a weekly list of microorganisms whose isolation rates compared with those of a previous period exceed a chosen limit. The system uses time series analysis with moving weighted averages, and the detection limit is based on the distribution of the residuals.

[Experiences with microcomputer based registration of esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy].

The development of and the experience with a microcomputer based register of endoscopy is described. The paper work was reduced from nine forms to one. The register provides the information necessary for budgeting the resources for staff and new equipment.

Colloidal bismuth subcitrate causes sustained release of gastric mucosal prostaglandin E2.

Gastric application of high doses of colloidal bismuth subcitrate (CBS) stimulates mucosal prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production, which is considered part of the mechanism by which the drug accelerates peptic ulcer healing. Whether therapeutic, orally administered, doses of CBS cause a sustained stimulation of prostaglandin production is not known. We have, therefore, determined gastric luminal release of PGE2 during 'steady-state' perfusion of the stomach with CBS (10 mg/ml; isotonic mannitol 5 ml/min) and 4 h after the last oral dose of the drug (240 mg b.
