"Co-construction" in deliberative democracy: lessons from the French Citizens' Convention for Climate.

Launched in 2019, the French Citizens' Convention for Climate (CCC) tasked 150 randomly chosen citizens with proposing fair and effective measures to fight climate change. This was to be fulfilled through an "innovative co-construction procedure", involving some unspecified external input alongside that from the citizens. Did inputs from the steering bodies undermine the citizens' accountability for the output? Did co-construction help the output resonate with the general public, as is expected from a citizens' assembly? To answer these questions, we build on our unique experience in observing the CCC proceedings and documenting them with qualitative and quantitative data.

[Comparison of haemostatic efficacy for endoscopic injection therapy of epinephrine and combination therapy of epinephrine and hemoclips for bleeding peptic ulcers].

Introduction: Endoscopic injection therapy of epinephrine is safe and effective in the treatment of bleeding peptic ulcer, but with high risk of rebleeding. The combination therapy of epinephrine and hemoclips could lead to a reduction of rebleeding and a potential reduction in mortality.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of epinephrine injection therapy and combination therapy with epinephrine and hemoclips in treating bleeding peptic ulcers.

[Endoscopic treatment of gastric and duodenal angiodysplasias by elastic rings ligation].

Introduction: The most frequently applied methods of endoscopic treatment of angiodysplasias, such as argon plasma coagulation, multipolar coagulation and heater probe, proved to be effective with certain shortcomings and the possibility of complications. There are very scarce data in the literature about the treatment of angiodysplasias with endoscopic ligature.

Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the efficacy and safety of endoscopic treatment of gastric and duodenal angiodysplasias by ligation with elastic rings.

Does sclerotherapy of remnant little oesophageal varices after endoscopic ligation have impact on the reduction of recurrent varices? Prospective study.

Introduction: Endoscopic band ligation (EBL) is superior to endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (EIS) of oesophageal varices, however, EBL is associated with a higher rate of variceal recurrences.

Objective: To examine whether the reduction of recurrent varices can be achieved by additional sclerotherapy of remnant little varices after ligation.

Methods: Forty-eight patients with liver cirrhosis who had previously bled from oesophageal varices were examined.

Biosynthesis of cyclic diterpene hydrocarbons in rice cell suspensions: conversion of 9,10-syn-labda-8(17),13-dienyl diphosphate to 9beta-pimara-7,15-diene and stemar-13-ene.

The biosynthesis of diterpene hydrocarbons with enzyme extracts from rice cell suspension cultures was investigated to verify proposed pathways and intermediates in the production of the momilactone and oryzalexin phytoalexins. Diterpene synthase activity in cells treated with chitin to elicit the phytoalexin response was compared with the activity in untreated cells using the acyclic substrates [1-3H](E,E,E)- and [1-3H] (E,Z,E)-geranylgeranyl diphosphates (GGPPs 4-OPP and 11-OPP) as well as the bicyclic substrates [15-3H]ent-copalyl and [15-3H] syn-copalyl diphosphates (CPPs, 5-OPP, and 6-OPP). ent-kaurene (7), ent-sanda, racopimaradiene (8), 9 beta H-pimara-7,15-diene (9), and stemar-13-ene (10) were identified as major products by comparisons with authentic standards.
