Alzheimer's disease often occurs in patients with Down's syndrome. SPECT scanning with I-123 IMP and Tc-99m HMPAO identifies decreased cerebral perfusion and metabolism in these patients at lower cost. In this case, SPECT scanning revealed changes in Alzheimer's disease in a Down's syndrome patient.

All patients had sustained closed head injury, gunshot wounds to the head, or spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhages. When clinical criteria for brain death were met, a characteristic pattern was found with transcranial Doppler.

Metastatic pulmonary calcification occurs in a chronic form in patients with malignancy, chronic renal failure, and primary hyperparathyroidism. A rapidly progressive form is associated with renal transplant failure. This case report describes chronic progressive pulmonary calcification after successful transplant with no obvious underlying cause.
