Intestinal epithelial cells, which are instrumental in nutrient absorption, fluid regulation, and pathogen defense, undergo continuous proliferation and differentiation within the intestinal crypts, migrating towards the luminal surface where they are eventually shed. RAB GTPases are key regulators of intracellular vesicular trafficking and are involved in various cellular processes, including cell migration and polarity. Here, we investigated the role of RAB6 in the development and maintenance of the gut epithelium.

Goals, challenges, and next steps in transdisciplinary fisheries research: perspectives and experiences from early-career researchers.

Fisheries are highly complex social-ecological systems that often face 'wicked' problems from unsustainable resource management to climate change. Addressing these challenges requires transdisciplinary approaches that integrate perspectives across scientific disciplines and knowledge systems. Despite widespread calls for transdisciplinary fisheries research (TFR), there are still limitations in personal and institutional capacity to conduct and support this work to the highest potential.

SARS-CoV-2 screening of asymptomatic health care workers: experience of a General hospital.

Health care workers (HCWs) are at major risk to be infected by SARS-CoV-2 and transmit the virus to the patients. Furthermore, travels are a major factor in the diffusion of the virus. We report our experience regarding the screening of asymptomatic HCWs returning from holidays, following the issue of a national guideline on 08/20/2020.

A Best Practices Case Study for Scientific Collaboration between Researchers and Managers.

Effective engagement among scientists, government agency staff, and policymakers is necessary for solving fisheries challenges, but remains challenging for a variety of reasons. We present seven practices learned from a collaborative project focused on invasive species in the Great Lakes region (USA-CAN). These practices were based on a researcher-manager model composed of a research team, a management advisory board, and a bridging organization.
