Background: Due to demographic and epidemiological shifts, people are living until older ages with more morbidities. These morbidities often have shared pathophysiology, which leads to a rise in coexisting health issues known as 'multimorbidity'. Primary care studies and disease burden surveys have multiplied, unveiling varied aspects of multimorbidity, yet with inconsistent definitions and methods.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is beneficial in phase-1 studies, but route and dose-related questions remain.
Methods: We performed a phase-2 randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, clinical trial of capsule and enema FMT in cirrhosis and HE on lactulose and rifaximin.
Background: Sphingosine-1 phosphate (S1P) is a bioactive lipid molecule that modulates inflammation and hepatic lipid metabolism in MASLD, which affects 1 in 3 people and increases the risk of liver fibrosis and hepatic cancer. S1P can be generated by 2 isoforms of sphingosine kinase (SphK). SphK1 is well-studied in metabolic diseases.
