A compartmental pharmacokinetics (PK) analysis of new extended half-life FVIII concentrates has never been performed in a large cohort of hemophilia patients. An improved PK analysis of individual outcomes may help to tailor hemophilia replacement treatment. PK outcomes after the infusion of a standard single dose of Efmoroctocog alfa were collected from 173 patients with severe/moderately severe hemophilia A in 11 Italian hemophilia centers.

 Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection causes acute respiratory insufficiency with severe interstitial pneumonia and extrapulmonary complications; in particular, it may predispose to thromboembolic disease. The reported incidence of thromboembolic complications varies from 5 to 30% of cases.  We conducted a multicenter, Italian, retrospective, observational study on COVID-19 patients admitted to ordinary wards, to describe the clinical characteristics of patients at admission and bleeding and thrombotic events occurring during the hospital stay.

Background: Haemophilia is an inherited coagulopathy caused by the absence or dysfunction of clotting factor VIII or IX. Clinical manifestations are generally secondary to recurrent bleeding episodes mainly in the musculoskeletal system. Bleeding symptoms appear early in life and, when the disease is severe (when plasma factor VIII or IX activity is <1% of normal), joint and muscle bleeding may occur spontaneously.
