Persistent colonization of among inpatients rescreened as part of a weekly surveillance program.

We established a surveillance program to evaluate persistence of colonization among hospitalized patients. Overall, 17 patients (34%) had ≥1 negative result followed by a positive test, and 7 (41%) of these patients had ≥2 consecutive negative tests.

Current Assistive Devices Usage and Recommendations for a Future Artificial Vision Prosthesis among Patients with Severe Visual Impairment Due to Inherited Retinal Diseases.

Patients with inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) utilize various adaptive techniques and devices designed to assist them with activities of daily living (ADLs). The purpose of this study was to assess the assistive devices used by patients with IRDs, the difficulties they face despite these devices, and their recommendations for a future visual prosthesis. In collaboration with blind patients, an online survey was developed and administered to adults with IRDs and visual acuities of 20/400 to no light perception in the better-seeing eye.

IgA-dominant infection-associated glomerulonephritis in the pediatric population.

Background: IgA-dominant infection-associated glomerulonephritis is well-documented in adults but has not been studied in depth in children. We assessed the incidence of pediatric IgA-dominant infection-associated glomerulonephritis and clinical and kidney biopsy findings.

Methods: Pediatric native kidney biopsies over a 10-year period with IgA dominance, strong C3, and findings indicative of infection-associated etiology were identified.

Purpose: To investigate the refractive outcomes of eyes with Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) following phacoemulsification.

Methods: This is a retrospective chart review of patients with FECD who underwent phacoemulsification. Manifest refraction at the early postoperative period (1-6 weeks) and late postoperative period (3-12 months) was collected.

Uterine lipoleiomyomas are a rare variant of leiomyoma, consisting of smooth muscle cells admixed with adipocytes. Herein is the case of a 70-year-old female who presented with acute pelvic pain and a palpable pelvic mass.
