Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the potential of using cell cultures from a medicinal plant as a sustainable source of ginsenosides, which are valuable bioactive compounds.
  • Cell lines were developed through a multi-step process and assessed for growth and ginsenoside production using advanced chromatography techniques.
  • The findings show that all cell lines had good growth rates and produced various ginsenosides, including one that was reported for the first time in cell culture, indicating the viability of biotechnological production.

Cellular lipid uptake (through endocytosis) is a basic physiological process. Dysregulation of this process underlies the pathogenesis of diseases such as atherosclerosis, obesity, diabetes, and cancer. However, to date, only some mechanisms of lipid endocytosis have been discovered.

HIV-induced immune suppression results in the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS-associated malignancies including Kaposi sarcoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and cervical cancer. HIV-infected people are also at an increased risk of "non-AIDS-defining" malignancies not directly linked to immune suppression but associated with viral infections. Their incidence is increasing despite successful antiretroviral therapy.

A rapid liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method has been developed and validated for the determination of α-trenbolone, β-trenbolone, α-nortestosterone, β-nortestosterone, zeranol, and taleranol in bovine liver. The impact of liquid-liquid extraction with methyl tert-butyl ether and optimized solid phase extraction on silica cartridges significantly reduced effort and time of sample preparation. Electrospray ionization gives a significant signal increase compared with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization and atmospheric pressure photoionization.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase (Btk), belonging to the Tec family of tyrosine kinases (TFKs), is essential for B-lymphocyte development. Abrogation of Btk signaling causes human X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) and murine X-linked immunodeficiency (Xid). We employed affinity purification of Flag-tagged Btk, combined with tandem mass spectrometry, to capture and identify novel interacting proteins.
