Background: Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) in early childhood exert a negative impact on the quality of life of children and their families. However, there is no evidence from cohort studies on which to base prevention strategies at the beginning of life, when children are entirely dependent upon supervision. The aim of the present study was to estimate the incidence of TDI in the first year of life and explore risk factors in a birth cohort followed up in three major cities in different regions of Brazil.

The emergence of toothpastes containing different abrasive and whitening substances has been a constant concern among dental professionals. The aim of the present study was to perform an in vitro assessment of the surface topography of nanoparticle composite resins subjected to simulated brushing with dentifrices. Background: The impact of ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) on breastfeeding outcomes may be overestimated and surgical treatment in newborns remains a controversial topic. The aim of the present study was to assess and quantify the impact of ankyloglossia in newborns on breastfeeding self-efficacy at 14 days of life.

To enable robust expression of transgenes in stem cells, recombinase-mediated cassette exchange at safe harbor loci is frequently adopted. The choice of recombinase enzyme is a critical parameter to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy of the integration event. We have explored the serine recombinase family of site-specific integrases and have directly compared the efficiency of PhiC31, W-beta, and Bxb1 integrase for targeted transgene integration at the Gt(ROSA)26Sor locus in mouse embryonic stem cells.

Chief executives have been educated and trained how to handle business, to take executive decisions, and take care of financial and human resources in favor of the company they are leading. CEOs (chief executive officers) of innovative pharmaceutical businesses, among others, have only seldomly been trained to understand the immense time periods involved between decisions and their moment of impact, and the skills and languages used by their internal and external R&D (research and development) staff. R&D staff and regulators, however, have undergone full training, and are usually capable of understanding each other across their various specialties (among them compound finding, quality, safety, efficacy, efficiency, risk assessment and management).
