Importance: Approximately 50% of clinicians experience excessive emotional, physical, and mental stress, with repercussions across the entire medical system. Mindfulness exercises may mitigate this excessive stress. Heart rate variability (HRV) is an objective stress measure that can quantify which mindfulness exercises provide the greatest stress reduction.

The aim of this project was to develop a CD-specific pediatric QOL measure (Celiac Disease Life Inventory of Family Experiences [CDLIFE]) with parallel self-report and parent-report forms by generating items through concept elicitation interviews, iterative refinement using cognitive debriefing interviews, and evaluating its psychometric properties and validity.
Methods: Concept elicitation interviews were conducted to develop items (9 youth ages 8-19 years with CD; 10 parents of youth with CD), followed by cognitive interviews with additional stakeholders (3 youth with CD, 3 parents, and 8 clinicians) and item administration (parent/youth reports: n = 103/102).
Objectives: Pediatric patients with life-limiting diagnoses frequently seek care in the pediatric emergency department (PED) during times of acute illness, or at end-of-life (EOL) . Although the population of patients with life-limiting diagnoses is heterogenous, clinician expertise in EOL communication is essential to providing family-centered care. In this study, we explored PED physician and nurse experiences with communication when eliciting EOL values, including factors specified to the PED environment, clinician perceptions of family supports and preferences, and clinicians' self-reflection of their skills and challenges in this sphere.
