Estimation of Lactate Thresholds, Aerobic Capacity and Recovery Rate from Muscle Oxygen Saturation in Highly Trained Speed Skaters and Healthy Untrained Individuals.

The main objective of this study was to compare lactate thresholds and aerobic capacity from a graded-intensity exercise test (GXT) for near-infrared spectroscopy measurements in healthy, untrained individuals and highly trained athletes. This study included 29 untrained students (13 females) and 27 highly trained speed skaters (13 females). A maximal effort GXT was performed on a cycloergometer.

Challenges to extracting spatial information about double P dopants in Si from STM images.

The design and implementation of dopant-based silicon nanoscale devices rely heavily on knowing precisely the locations of phosphorous dopants in their host crystal. One potential solution combines scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) imaging with atomistic tight-binding simulations to reverse-engineer dopant coordinates. This work shows that such an approach may not be straightforwardly extended to double-dopant systems.

Antibiotic Resistance and Virulence Profiles of Strains Isolated from Wild Birds in Poland.

Wild animals are increasingly reported as carriers of antibiotic-resistant and pathogenic bacteria including . However, the role of free-living birds as reservoirs for potentially dangerous microbes is not yet thoroughly understood. In our work, we examined strains from wild birds in Poland in relation to their antimicrobial agents susceptibility, virulence and phylogenetic affiliation.

The first case of in European pond turtle ( in the wild in Poland.

During standard parasitological dissection of 4 individuals of European pond turtle () (Linneaus, 1758) one nematode was found. In a morphological examination the parasite was identified as (Rudolphi, 1819) and confirmed by DNA analysis based on sequencing of the small subunit ribosomal RNA gene. The partial 18S rDNA gene was deposited to NCBI GenBank with the accession number MN629917.
