Background: An observer-rated screening questionnaire for dementia for people with intellectual disabilities (ID), DSQIID, was developed in the UK. So far, the German version has not yet been validated in adults with ID.

Aims/methods: We validated a German version of DSQIID (DSQIID-G) among adults with ID attending a German clinic.

Background: Assessment of age-associated disorders has become increasingly important.

Methods: In a clinical setting, people with intellectual disability with and without dementia were assessed retrospectively using the Neuropsychological Test Battery (NTB) and the Dementia Questionnaire for People with Learning Disabilities (DLD) at two different times to analyse neuropsychological changes and diagnostic validity. One group (n = 44) was assessed with both instruments, while the DLD was applied in 71 patients.

The detailed structure elucidation process of the new cannabimimetic designer drug, N-(1-amino-3,3-dimethyl-1-oxobutan-2-yl)-1-(5-fluoropentyl)-3-(4-fluorophenyl)-pyrazole-5-carboxamide, with a highly substituted pyrazole skeleton, using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic and mass spectrometric (MS) techniques is described. After a first analysis of the NMR spectra and comparison with 48 possible pyrazole and imidazole structures, a subset of six positional isomeric pyrazoles and six imidazoles remained conceivable. Four substituents of the heterocyclic skeleton were identified: a proton bound to a pyrazole ring carbon atom; a 5-fluoropentyl group; a 4-fluorophenyl substituent; and a carbamoyl group, which is N-substituted with a methyl residue carrying a tert.

Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the effect of a single-drop instillation of different lacrimal substitutes on tear film thickness (TFT) assessed with optical coherence tomography in patients with mild to moderate dry eye disease.

Methods: The study was performed in a randomized, double-masked, controlled parallel group design. Patients received a single dose of either unpreserved trehalose 30 mg/mL and sodium hyaluronate 1.

The electron ionization (EI) of aromatic ring-substituted isomers gives virtual identical mass spectra which seriously affects their analysis. Especially regioisomeric meta- and para-ring-substituted compounds cannot show any ortho-effect reactions making their differentiation by mass spectrometry impossible. Furthermore o-, m- and p-substituted compounds can only be separated insufficiently by chromatography due to their very similar retention that do not allow univocal identification.
