A Comparative Study on Calprotectin Concentration in Periodontitis Patients Before and After Non-surgical Periodontal Therapy.

Introduction Numerous inflammatory mediators exist in body secretions like gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) during periodontitis. One such inflammatory mediator is calprotectin, a protein which is released from leukocytes and other inflammatory cells. Aims This study aimed to compare the concentration of calprotectin in the GCF of individuals with and without periodontitis, as well as in the GCF, serum, and saliva of periodontitis patients before and after non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Pharmacokinetic drug-drug interaction between first-line anti-TB and anti-diabetic drugs in patients with tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus.

Background: The association between Tuberculosis (TB) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) have always been an area of interest for decades. Many studies have reported the impact of DM on the development and prognosis of TB and vice versa. There is a major research gap in the area of drug-drug interactions between anti-TB drugs and anti-diabetic drugs.

Objective: Quad bike riders in Dubai (UAE) constitute a highly diverse group with varying driving skills and familiarity with the desert environment. In the absence of evidence on the quad bike riders in the region, we attempted to describe the most vulnerable risk groups using routinely collected injury data. This may hopefully inform the most effective injury prevention strategies for the region.

Diagnostic dilemma in infantile refractory diarrhea: a rare case of IPEX syndrome.

Infantile refractory diarrhea presents after first few days of life leading to intestinal insufficiency. It is a diagnostic challenge due to varied etiologies like food senstive enteropathy, anatomical defects and dysmotility disorders, transport and enzymatic defects, pancreatic malabsorption - cystic fibrosis (CF), primary epithelial causes like microvillus inclusion disease (MVID), tufting enteropathy and heparan sulfate deficiency, immunodeficiencies, metabolic diseases and autoimmune enteropathy. It is refractory to treatment making the patient dependent on total parenteral nutrition.

Assessing progress on the coverage of interventions in the first 1000 days in India: role of national programs.

Background: High coverage of nutrition-specific interventions is critical to meet global nutrition targets, and it is imperative to understand how to attain it. We examined trends and inequalities in the coverage of interventions in India and the role of the National Nutrition Mission (NNM) in achieving improvements.

Methods: We conducted trends and equity analysis of 30 interventions using two rounds of National Family Health Survey data (2015-2016, n=1 78 874, and 2019-2021, n=1 70 697).
