Is there an environmental criminal law? Environmental law is emerging as a new, third-generation, collective, peripheral, predominantly public, fundamental, preventive rather than repressive, global, universal and inalienable right, a right of interrelation, the object of which is essentially natural, changing and interdisciplinary. In turn, environmental criminal law could be defined as “the set of legal norms with criminal content aimed at protecting the environment in which man lives and is in contact”.

After Cuba, Uruguay is the first country that has adopted a legal regime which allows the abortion. The law is from November 2012 and has presented problems for its interpretation and implementation. Was a correct solution for Uruguay? Were not other alternatives more convenient to be tried before? The author exposes different measures to be taken, that can avoid the abortion from its roots, as well as the effect produced by permissive laws.

Alkynyl bridged cyclometalated Ir2M2 clusters: impact of the heterometal in the photo- and electro-luminescence properties.

We report two unprecedent alkynyl bridging cyclometalated clusters [Ir2M2(ppy)4(μ-C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CC6H4-OMe3)4] where M is Ag (2) and Cu (3), which display distinctive luminescence properties. While 2 features a green phosphorescence/electroluminescence nature located at the ppy ligands ((3)LC), 3 shows an orange emission confined to the metals and alkynyl groups having a mixed (3)L'C/(3)L'MCT/(3)MMCT (L' = alkynyl) nature.

Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in cats from Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil.

Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide zoonosis caused by the protozoa Toxoplasma gondii which infects all warm-blood vertebrates. This study aimed to assess the seroprevalence of anti-Toxoplasma gondii antibodies in a population of domestic cats seen at a major cat-only veterinary clinic in Curitiba, Paraná State, Southern Brazil. Serum samples were processed by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IIFA) for the detection of IgG.
