In this article, we study the numerical corroboration of a variational model governed by a fourth-order elliptic operator that describes the deformation of a linearly elastic flexural shell subjected not to cross a prescribed flat obstacle. The problem under consideration is modelled by means of a set of variational inequalities posed over a non-empty, closed and convex subset of a suitable Sobolev space and is known to admit a unique solution. Qualitative and quantitative numerical experiments corroborating the validity of the model and its asymptotic similarity with Koiter's model are also presented.

This study aimed to examine the epidemiologic data of ALS in the north-east Tuscany and compare the results with those of similar surveys.
Methods: Data from ALS cases diagnosed in Florence and Prato Hospitals were prospectively collected from 1st June 2018 to 31st May 2021.

Purpose: We evaluated brain metabolic dysfunctions and associations with neurological and biological parameters in acute, subacute and chronic COVID-19 phases to provide deeper insights into the pathophysiology of the disease.
Methods: Twenty-six patients with neurological symptoms (neuro-COVID-19) and [F]FDG-PET were included. Seven patients were acute (< 1 month (m) after onset), 12 subacute (4 ≥ 1-m, 4 ≥ 2-m and 4 ≥ 3-m) and 7 with neuro-post-COVID-19 (3 ≥ 5-m and 4 ≥ 7-9-m).
In this paper, a finite element analysis to approximate the solution of an obstacle problem for a static shallow shell confined in a half space is presented. To begin with, we establish, by relying on the properties of enriching operators, an estimate for the approximate bilinear form associated with the problem under consideration. Then, we conduct an error analysis and we prove the convergence of the proposed numerical scheme.

Multiple-choice smell identification tests can be conditioned by cultural background. To investigate a new tool for detecting olfactory deficit in Italian subjects we developed a multiple-choice identification test prepared with odorants belonging to the Italian culture.
