Introduction: Shoulder pain represents a common patient complaint evaluated in a primary care setting. Approximately two thirds of these patients have rotator cuff injuries, with rotator cuff tears (RCTs) and subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) accounting for a majority of causes. An accurate and efficient diagnostic strategy focused on physical examination findings may lead to improved outcomes and less functional disability.

The Smart Drug Delivery of Rotigotine Using Transdermal Patch for the Successful Management of Parkinson's Disease.

Background: A Non-Ergot Dopamine Agonist (NEDA) rotigotine has been designed as a new transdermal drug delivery system.

Aim: To maintain optimum homogeneity in drug content, the rotigotine transdermal patch was developed utilizing a solvent casting technique.

Methods: The characteristics of a transdermal patch, including patch weight, folding endurance, patch thickness, surface morphology, tensile strength, swelling rate, surface pH, in vitro release studies, water retention rate, uniformity of drug content, and ex-vivo permeation studies, were determined.

Characterisation of Physiological Tremor using Multivariate Empirical Mode Decomposition and Hilbert Transform.

Fatigue-induced physiological tremor (FIPT) is undesirable when performing micromanipulation tasks that require high precision. It is important to characterise this form of tremor to aid in identifying and suppressing it from the intended micromanipulation task. Researchers have used surface electromyography (sEMG) and mechanomyography (MMG) separately or in combination to study tremor, which is further processed using Fourier transform-based techniques.

Photoredox-catalyzed 1,2-oxo-alkylation of vinyl arenes with 1,3-diketones: an approach to 1,4-dicarbonyls C-C activation.

A mild and inexpensive approach to synthesising a series of 1,4-diketones in moderate to excellent yields 1,2-oxo alkylation has been developed using fluorescein as a photocatalyst and air as an oxidant. The key features include (i) varied substrate scope (39 examples); (ii) good functional group tolerance; (iii) unsymmetrical 1,4-dicarbonyls; (iv) late-stage functionalization of thymol and ibuprofen derivatives; and (v) the synthetic expansion to 5- and 6-membered N-, O- and S-containing heterocycles.

A 33-Year-Old Woman With Breathing Difficulty, Inspiratory Wheeze, and Hemoptysis.

A 33-year-old teacher from Ghana with no medical comorbidities and no relevant family history came to our pulmonology department with progressive difficulty in breathing, wheezing, and stridor for 6 months. Similar episodes had been treated previously as bronchial asthma. She was being treated with high-dose inhaled corticosteroids and bronchodilators but had no relief.
