Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a grave complication and the most common renal dysfunction of diabetes mellitus. Genetic factors, including Apolipoprotein E (APOE) isoforms, have been implicated in the pathogenesis of DN.
Methods: A total of 577 type 2 Diabetes mellitus subjects were categorized into diabetes non-nephropathic (Controls: n = 321), diabetes nephropathic (DN: n = 256) groups.
Deterioration of cholesterol metabolism has recently been a frontier subject of investigation in the field of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Though amyloid-β protein precursor (AβPP) primes the pathological cascade, changes in cholesterol levels and its intermediates, geranyl geranyl pyrophosphate and farnesyl pyrophosphate, is expected to have a different consequence on AβPP processing and amyloid-β (Aβ) generation. However, the use of statins (HMG-COA reductase inhibitor) has been widely implicated in slowing down the pathogenic progression of AD, while the epidemiological reports on its biological effect remains controversial.

A highly active silver nanoparticle (SmAgNps) was synthesized in the present study by using Sargassum muticum extract. The instrumentations such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDAX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to reveal the nanoparticle morphology and size. The insecticidal activities of SmAgNps against Ergolis merione reveals prominent changes in the protein profile of hemolymph, morphology of hemocytes, and deteriorated midgut inclusions such as lumen, basement membrane, fat body, and gastric caeca.
