In a cooling system for radio astronomy receivers, maintaining cold heads and compressors is essential for consistent performance. This project focuses on monitoring the power currents of the cold head's motor to address potential mechanical deterioration, which could jeopardize the overall functionality of the system. Using Hall effect sensors, a microcontroller-based electronic board, and artificial intelligence, the system detects and predicts anomalies.

A 37-year-old male with acute complicated methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus mitral valve endocarditis underwent urgent valve replacement with a bileaflet prosthesis. The postoperative course was complicated with fever and heart failure. Echocardiography showed a large subannular false aneurysm of the left ventricle.

A method of posterior mitral annulus remodeling is presented. The posterior annulus is divided into three segments, each segment encircled by a suture that is passed in a tourniquet. Coaptation of the leaflets can be achieved by tightening the tourniquets while the ventricle is being filled.
