The index of biotic integrity (IBI) is an effective multi-metric tool for assessing biological integrity of aquatic ecosystems and regulating water quality based on fish community surveys. Percentages of individuals with deformity, eroded fin, lesion, and tumor (DELT) anomalies are used in IBIs as a measure of fish health, while the percentage of hybrids reflects changes in reproductive isolation. When rare, these are combined into a joint '% DELT + hybrids' metric.

Rheostatic contributions to protein stability can obscure a position's functional role.

Rheostat positions, which can be substituted with various amino acids to tune protein function across a range of outcomes, are a developing area for advancing personalized medicine and bioengineering. Current methods cannot accurately predict which proteins contain rheostat positions or their substitution outcomes. To compare the prevalence of rheostat positions in homologs, we previously investigated their occurrence in two pyruvate kinase (PYK) isozymes.

Objectives: Research on links between social, geographic, and cultural determinants of health has been thwarted by inadequate measures of culture. The purpose of this study was to improve the measurement of community culture, defined as shared patterns of attitudes and behaviors among people within a neighborhood that distinguish it from others, and to examine dimensions of culture, independent of socioeconomic and demographic factors, and their relationships with health.

Study Design: A survey research design with correlational analyses was used.
