United States experience with tension-free vaginal tape procedure for urinary stress incontinence: assessment of safety and tolerability.

Purpose: The tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure is an operation for treatment of stress urinary incontinence. A polypropylene mesh tape is placed to support the midurethra through a small vaginal incision. In this study, we present our preliminary results evaluating the safety, tolerability, and perioperative morbidity of this procedure.

Use of diuretic renogram in evaluation of patients before and after endopyelotomy.

Objectives: Endopyelotomy is a widely accepted alternative in the treatment of ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction, with success rates between 63% and 88%. However, various methods have been used to evaluate patients with UPJ obstruction, making it difficult to compare results. Diuretic renography has the potential to unify the evaluation if performed in standard ways.

Correlation of mechanical imaging and histopathology of radical prostatectomy specimens: a pilot study for detecting prostate cancer.

Purpose: A new modality termed mechanical imaging has recently been developed. We determined whether mechanical imaging could be used to detect prostate cancer in radical prostatectomy specimens.

Materials And Methods: Stress patterns on the surface of excised prostates were evaluated using the data obtained from a planar piezoelectric resistive force sensor array.

[Dynamics of critical stenosis in patients with unstable angina pectoris].

In 28 patients with unstable angina pectoris biplane coronary angiography was performed in the acute stage. Arteriography of the ischemia-related vessel was subsequently repeated in 14 patients after intracoronary infusion of 0.2 mg nifedipine and ten minutes later after 10 mg sublingual nifedipine (group I) and in 14 patients after intracoronary infusion of 0.

On the radiation-induced aggregates of lactate dehydrogenase.

Radiolysis of lactate dehydrogenase under N2 leads to the formation of aggregates which are enzymatically inactive. These aggregates were isolated by gel filtration. Incubation with sodium dodecylsulphate followed by gel filtration made it obvious that these aggreates consist of protein fragments held togehter by hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions.
