Climate change and pollution are a major existential threat. Healthcare contributes a noteworthy 4-6% to the total carbon footprint and 5-7% of the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Environmental pollution and modern lifestyles are also contributing to the increased prevalence of autoimmune and lifestyle-related rheumatic disease.

Association between Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Age-related Macular Degeneration Development and Progression.

Objective: Evaluate the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) development and progression in individuals with diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Subjects: 60,652 and 1,173,723 individuals with OSA or not, respectively, were included in the study before propensity score matching (PSM).
