Exploring the impact of the New York State repeal of nonmedical vaccination exemptions on student enrollment, absenteeism, and school workload: Perspectives from a survey of school administrators.

In June 2019, New York State (NYS) adopted Senate Bill 2994A eliminating nonmedical vaccine exemptions from school entry laws. Since student noncompliance with the law required school exclusion, we sought to evaluate the law's effects on student enrollment and absenteeism, and school workloads related to its implementation. In November 2019, we sent an electronic survey to NYS (excluding New York City) schools.

Selecting the optimal anti-aliasing filter for multichannel biosignal acquisition intended for inter-signal phase shift analysis.

The availability of microcomputer-based portable devices facilitates the high-volume multichannel biosignal acquisition and the analysis of their instantaneous oscillations and inter-signal temporal correlations. These new, non-invasively obtained parameters can have considerable prognostic or diagnostic roles. The present study investigates the inherent signal delay of the obligatory anti-aliasing filters.

Vascular changes play a role in the pathogenesis of necrotizing enterocolitis in asphyxiated newborn pigs.

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common acquired gastrointestinal emergency in neonates. We have developed an animal model of NEC in asphyxiated newborn pigs and investigated the effects of asphyxia on blood flow in superior mesenteric artery and abdominal aorta, cardiovascular data, arterial acid-base and blood gas parameters, and endothelial cytoskeletal structure in mesenteric microvasculature. Anesthetized, mechanically ventilated newborn pigs were included in two groups: piglets underwent severe asphyxia, and sham-operated control animals.

Primary lymphoedema associated with xanthomatosis, vaginal lymphorrhoea and intestinal lymphangiectasia.

Primary lymphoedema associated with chylous reflux is a very rare clinical entity. We report a 3-year-old girl with unilateral lymphoedema, xanthomatosis and vaginal lymphorrhoea. Biopsy also revealed intestinal lymphangiectasia.
