Getting Ours? "Girlbossing" and the Ethics of Nurse Reimbursement Models.

Introduction: This article politicizes a reimbursement model proposed by some professional nursing associations that aim to better align the price of nursing labor (nurses' pay) to the value of nursing and make nurses' contributions more visible.

Methods: Using the concept of "missing care," the critique reveals how professionalization directs attention to individual-level interactions between care seekers and practitioners while obscuring from view the harm inflicted by social institutions and structures constitutive of a capitalist political economy and the related carceral state.

Results: Direct reimbursement models render practitioners complicit in the harms perpetrated and perpetuated by the health care industrial complex while professionalization processes are deployed to reduce cognitive dissonance (and moral injury) produced by combining harm with nursing's normative principles.

A Six Year Experience of a National Leadership Fellowship in Northern Ireland: Achieve, Develop, Explore Programme for Trainees (ADEPT).

Introduction: The Achieve, Develop, Explore Programme for Trainees (ADEPT) Clinical Leadership Fellowship Programme was established in response to growing recommendations to underpin healthcare reconfiguration in Northern Ireland with a collective leadership strategy. The fellowship combines a leadership development programme with a project carried out within a host organisation. With the fellowship now in its sixth year, a need was identified to assess its impact on the fellows' leadership skills, career choices, achievements, and views on both the fellowship and how to develop future leaders.

Health Equity Tourism: Ravaging the Justice Landscape.

As the long-standing and ubiquitous racial inequities of the United States reached national attention, the public health community has witnessed the rise of "health equity tourism". This phenomenon is the process of previously unengaged investigators pivoting into health equity research without developing the necessary scientific expertise for high-quality work. In this essay, we define the phenomenon and provide an explanation of the antecedent conditions that facilitated its development.

Few studies have examined the stability of the representation of the position of sound sources in spatial working memory. The goal of this study was to verify whether the memory of sound position declines as maintenance time increases. In two experiments, we tested the influence of the delay between stimulus and response in a sound localization task.

Application of change point analysis to daily influenza-like illness emergency department visits.

Background: The utility of healthcare utilization data from US emergency departments (EDs) for rapid monitoring of changes in influenza-like illness (ILI) activity was highlighted during the recent influenza A (H1N1) pandemic. Monitoring has tended to rely on detection algorithms, such as the Early Aberration Reporting System (EARS), which are limited in their ability to detect subtle changes and identify disease trends.

Objective: To evaluate a complementary approach, change point analysis (CPA), for detecting changes in the incidence of ED visits due to ILI.
