OXER1, the receptor for the arachidonic acid metabolite 5-οxo-eicosatetraenoic acid (5-oxo-ETE), has been reported to also bind and mediate the membrane-initiated actions of androgens. Indeed, androgens antagonize the 5-oxo-ETE effects through OXER1, affecting a number of signaling pathways and inhibiting cancer cell proliferation and migration. OXER1, being a GPCR, was classically described to be localized in the plasma membrane.

Introduction: Iris retraction syndrome (IRS) is a rare clinical condition characterized by a backbowing of the iris positioned on the lens with a complete pupillary block. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are a new class of immunomodulating agents used in cancer therapy, and although they have high response rates, ophthalmic-related side effects have been reported. We report a rare case of bilateral IRS with hypotony after therapy with nivolumab.

Article Synopsis
  • The DNA damage response (DDR) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways are essential for the survival of living organisms, and their interactions are important for proper cellular function.
  • Abnormalities in these pathways are linked to various diseases, particularly cancer and drug resistance, highlighting the need for further research.
  • The latest findings in treating multiple myeloma focus on targeting components of the DDR and MAPK pathways, opening up opportunities for new therapeutic strategies and clinical trials.
