Objectives: Whereas some work links trauma exposure to poor subjective sleep quality, studies largely rely upon limited trauma measures and self-reported sleep at one time point. It is unknown whether trauma is related to persistent poor sleep, whether associations differ based on childhood versus adulthood trauma, and whether trauma exposure is related to poorer objectively assessed sleep. We tested whether childhood or adult trauma associated with persistent poor objectively and subjectively measured sleep at two time points in midlife women.

This study examined the association between cognitive intra-individual variability (IIV), a non-mean-based indicator of underlying neuropathology, and self-reported everyday functioning of 1,086 women with HIV (WWH) and 494 socio-demographically similar women without HIV (WWoH). Objective cognitive performance across seven domains and the self-rated Lawton & Brody scale of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) were assessed among participants of the Women's Interagency HIV Study. Two types of cognitive IIV were calculated by taking the standard deviation across seven cognitive domains to calculate dispersion: 1) intra-individual standard deviation (denoted as IIV) and 2) coefficient of variation (denoted as IIV).

Background: Approximately 4% to 8% of pregnant individuals meet the criteria for current posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a known risk factor for a multitude of adverse maternal and child health outcomes. However, PTSD is rarely detected or treated in obstetric settings. Moreover, available prenatal PTSD treatments require in-person services that are often inaccessible due to barriers to care.
