Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted on 16 chronic hemodialysis patients to analyze the levels of cardiac troponins (I and T) and their prognostic implications over a year, revealing a high prevalence of elevated serum markers without prior cardiac knowledge.
  • At the start, a significant portion of patients had increased levels of cTnT (75%), CK-MB (50%), and some had elevated cTnI (19%), indicating potential myocardial injury.
  • The findings suggested that despite the elevated cardiac markers correlating with adverse outcomes like fatal myocardial infarction, the non-specific nature of these markers highlights the need for cTnI as a more reliable indicator of myocardial injury in those undergoing chronic dialysis.

A case of mediastinal teratoma is described with emphasis on its magnetic resonance aspect. All the components of the mass were well defined. The major interest of magnetic resonance imaging in this case consisted in the good delineation of the pericardium and visualization of the absence of pericardial invasion.
