Background: Blood tests for Alzheimer's disease (AD) that measure biomarkers related to neuropathology have demonstrated to be useful, minimally-invasive ways to identify patients for screening into clinical trials. While some AD biomarkers can be detected in plasma, greater sensitivity is needed to make plasma AD tests more effective. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) in plasma carry AD-related biomarkers from the brain and could offer a concentrated source of brain-related biomarkers, though the methodological complexities involved in isolating plasma EVs have hampered its validation for clinical use.

Mefenoxam, an agricultural anti-oomycotic compound, has a demonstrated the ability to inhibit growth in vitro and has been associated with efficacy in treating gastrointestinal pythiosis in several case reports. Electronic medical records of dogs seen at University of Florida Small Animal Hospital and treated with mefenoxam between 2013 and 2020 were searched.

Case Report: Early detection of pancreatic pre-cancer lesion in multimodal approach with exosome liquid biopsy.

Background: The detection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) lesions at pre-cancerous or early-stages is critical to improving patient survival. We have developed a liquid biopsy test (ExoVita) based on the measurement of protein biomarkers in cancer-derived exosomes. The high sensitivity and specificity of the test for early-stage PDAC has the potential to improve a patient's diagnostic journey in hopes to impact patient outcomes.
