Elevated blood pressure during childhood can lead to hypertension in adulthood and is associated with an increased risk of future cardiovascular disease with early identification as the best option for prevention. This study examines the prevalence of hypertension in Hispanic and White youths and reports the ability of a school-based program to identify hypertension in school-aged children. Approximately 3.

Here, a new spin-labeled chemical recognition unit for switchable and concomitantly high affinity binding to His-tagged proteins was synthesized. In combination with an orthogonal site-directed spin label, this novel spin probe, Proxyl-trisNTA (P-trisNTA) allows the extraction of structural constraints within proteins and macromolecular complexes by EPR.

The obtained distance distributions were stable upon the change of detection frequency from 10 GHz (X-band) to 35 GHz (Q-band). The α-helical pitch of WALP23 polypeptide could be experimentally observed, despite the flexibility of the two spin labels.

The time required to flip dilute spins is orders of magnitude shorter than their coherence times, leading to several schemes for quantum information processing with spin qubits. Instead, we investigate 'hybrid nuclear-electronic' qubits consisting of near 50:50 superpositions of the electronic and nuclear spin states.

Selective measurements of nitroxide-nitroxide, Gd(3+)-nitroxide and Gd(3+)-Gd(3+) distances were performed on this system and information on the distance distribution in the three types of spin pairs was obtained. A numerical analysis of the dipolar frequency distributions is presented for Gd(3+) centres with moderate magnitudes of zero-field splitting, in the range of detection frequencies and resonance fields where the high-field approximation is only roughly valid.
