[Transarterial oil chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma, in 100 cases].

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignancy with a grave prognosis. Most patients have both the malignant tumor as well as hepatic cirrhosis. Liver transplantation or hepatectomy are considered the only curative procedures, but can be applied in fewer than 10% of patients.

Gallbladder varices: a case report and review of the literature.

We present an 18 year old woman suffering from cavernous transformation of the portal vein, hypersplenism and bleeding esophageal varices. Color flow Doppler sonography showed gallbladder wall varices. A review of the literature, revealed 76 cases of gallbladder varices.

Reversible functional asplenia and subcapsular liver hematoma--two distinctive manifestations of amyloidosis.

We hereby describe a patient with amyloidosis complicated by reversible functional asplenia and spontaneous rupture of the liver with subcapsular hematoma which resolved completely with conservative therapy. These two rare findings may result from extensive vascular amyloid in this patient.
