[Retrorectal cyst hamartoma: report of a pediatric case].

The retrorectal hamartoma cyst or retrorectal cyst is an uncommon congenital lesion. We present the case of a 7 days-old girl with a retrorectal tumor diagnosed by ultrasound during pregnancy. The histological examination was a cyst lined by squamous and urotelial typical epithelium and a double layer of smooth muscle.

A reliable biomarker derived from plasmalogens to evaluate malignancy and metastatic capacity of human cancers.

Antigen tumor markers employed in monitoring therapeutical approaches are limited by their specificity (Sp) and sensitivity (Se). The aim of this study was to investigate the suitability of a lipid tumor marker derived from ether-linked phospholipids and to compare it with others usually assayed in clinical practice. Complex lipids from normal and pathological breast, lung, and prostate tissue were isolated and analyzed by TLC and c-GLC methods.

[Bruner's gland hyperplasia: case report and literature review].

Bruner's gland hyperplasia (BGH) is an infrequent benign injury located on the first or second portion of the duodenum. We presented the case of a 59 year-old man with vomits, diarrhea, upper gastrointestinal bleeding intermittent and loss of weight in which was a nodule in the duodenum that corresponded to an hyperplasia nodular of Brunner's gland.

[Lymphangiectatic cysts of the intestine in autopsy].

We report the postmortem findings of three patients with multiple pale polyps in the small bowell, which show the typical histological features of lymphangiectatic cysts.

[Chronic active plasmacytic gastritis associated with cytomegalovirus].

Chronic active plasmacytic gastritis (CAPG) is characterized by the presence of chronic inflammatory cell infiltrates, mainly formed by plasma cells, involving the neck of gastric glands. This lesion, as well as Ménétrier disease, has been linked to cytomegalovirus (CMV). To test this association we evaluated the foveolar/glandular (F/G) index and the presence of CMV DNA (desoxirribonucleic acid) by means of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in 12 cases of CAPG and 13 controls.
