New Evidences About Multidimensionality of the Patient-Practitioner Orientation Scale (PPOS) Construct in Undergraduate Medical Students.

Background: Patient-centered care is becoming a paradigm in medicine. The Patient-Practitioner Orientation Scale (PPOS) is the only tool that measures the patient-centered attitude of healthcare students and professionals. Despite its spread, PPOS has had a poor process of scale modelling and validation and previous studies raised concerns about its psychometric robustness.

Pandemic impact on training and mental health of medical residents: an Italian multicentre prospective study.

Objective: To describe the mental health of Italian medical residents during COVID-19 pandemic and explore the impact of personal and work-related changes on their mental health.

Methods: A multicentre prospective study was conducted on a sample of Italian residents across five timepoints (February-October 2021). Mental health outcomes (symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD, depression, anxiety, poor sleep quality) were assessed.

Prognostic communication in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: findings from a Nationwide Italian survey.

Background: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal motor neuron disease with a highly variable prognosis. Among the proposed prognostic models, the European Network for the cure of ALS (ENCALS) survival model has demonstrated good predictive performance. However, few studies have examined prognostic communication and the diffusion of prognostic algorithms in ALS care.

Well-Being Therapy for Fibromyalgia: A Case Report.

Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is characterized by chronic widespread pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances, significantly impairing quality of life and psychological well-being. Well-being therapy (WBT) is a brief psychotherapeutic intervention aimed at increasing well-being and optimizing functioning, which has proven effective in treating various conditions involving pain and psychological or psychiatric symptoms. We describe a case study of a 22-year-old university student experiencing FMS, highlighting the far-reaching effects of the condition on her quality of life.

A patient with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis: the importance of psychosomatic assessment.

Background: Many patients affected by FM present different comorbidities, but to date no case of FM in patients with CRMO has been reported in literature. Several studies show the importance of psychosomatic assessment in FM, but only one reported the presence of allostatic overload.

Case Presentation: In April 2022, a 21-year-old female patient, a third-year medical student, came to our clinic to be assessed and treated for FM.
