Introduction: Tracheomalacia (TM) often occurs in children with oesophageal atresia (OA), leading to recurrent respiratory symptoms and in severe cases to blue spells or ultimately respiratory arrest. In some patients, a secondary posterior tracheopexy may then be indicated. This secondary surgery, as well as respiratory morbidity, may be prevented by performing a primary posterior tracheopexy (PPT) concurrent with primary OA correction.

Objective: This study aimed to determine long-term neurodevelopmental outcome and cerebral oxygenation in extremely preterm infants, comparing those with a hemodynamic significant patent ductus arteriosus (hsPDA) to those without.

Study Design: We included infants born before 28 weeks of gestation from 2008 to 2010 with routine echocardiography. Prior to echocardiography, regional cerebral oxygen saturation was measured.

The hazel dormouse is predominantly an arboreal species that moves down to the ground to hibernate in the autumn in temperate parts of its distributional ranges at locations not yet well understood. The main objective of this study is to test whether environmental characteristics surrounding hazel dormouse hibernacula can be identified using high-resolution remote sensing and data collected in situ. To achieve this, remotely sensed variables, including canopy height and cover, topographic slope, sky view, solar radiation and cold air drainage, were modelled around 83 dormouse hibernacula in England (n = 62) and the Netherlands (n = 21), and environmental characteristics that may be favoured by pre-hibernating dormice were identified.

Background: There is growing evidence that neonatal surgery for non-cardiac congenital anomalies (NCCAs) in the neonatal period adversely affects long-term neurodevelopmental outcome. However, less is known about acquired brain injury after surgery for NCCA and abnormal brain maturation leading to these impairments.

Methods: A systematic search was performed in PubMed, Embase, and The Cochrane Library on May 6, 2022 on brain injury and maturation abnormalities seen on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and its associations with neurodevelopment in neonates undergoing NCCA surgery the first month postpartum.
